Probably the worst-sounding record in my drove. Full of pops and crackles, skipped multiple times, incredibly noisy. Sounded worse correct out of the wrapping than my parents' overused, scuffed-upwardly records from the 70s. Reading the other reviews makes me think information technology might've simply been my copy, just I'm a piffling pissed. Would be more than pissed if I didn't get it for pretty cheap. At least it looks cool, mayhap I'll hang information technology upward on my wall.
Edited 15 days agone
My copy sounds great! I have an early 70s press for comparing, prob a 1971 press and this sounds a bit better, college highs and a bit more dynamic, its flat and dead tranquillity. My dead wax has "nrp" etched which is prob Nashville record production and I have the same hype stickers on encompass, there is absolutely nothing on my copy that would lead me to believe its from Europe. Anyways this is a wonderful copy, great buy for $24
Very cool and hip that I ain the first pressing of this as information technology's being reevaluated. Hope gen z gets on the sly train soon
My copy is pretty great. Artwork is articulate, vinyl is super thick primary crimson (couple tiny blackness flecks only that'due south okay), almost perfectly flat, sounds practiced. For about $20, great deal.
Comparison time:
2013 Music On Vinyl - beautiful pressing genuinely as perceptibly quiet as whatsoever Supervinyl or UHQR overpriced hype records. Very skilful mastering, thick warm and sounds analogue even if it aint. Perchance a piddling rolled off and lacks abit in soundstage. Very piece of cake to listen besides and enjoy.
2018 Sundazed KPG cut red vinyl - good quality RTI pressing if not equally silent as the Tape Industry chore for MOV. Looks peachy though and is tranquility plenty for sure. Mastering wise it is a pace up from the MOV effect having more clarity, bettee stage depth and especially width. The extra clarity ways the occasional song hotness is more than pronounced but information technology stops brusque of existence harsh.
2021 Epic/Sony ltd ed red vinyl - the wordt of the bunch. Sounds a trivial flatter and thinner than the MOV. Its not harsh and doesnt practise too much wrong. Its just not every bit natural i guess. Certainly very different to the KPG cut. The vinyl is also non every bit tranquillity as the MOV but is on par with the Sundazed. However two copies ive tried both exhibit some warp and off middle'dness with some scuffing from the card printed inner.
All records were Degritted heavily earlier playback and played on the same vintage Pioneer PL-51 dd with Shure M75 nude elliptical.
Conclusion:
1st - KPG Sundazed red
2nd - MOV regular blackness
3rd - Epic red ltd ed

second - MOV regular blackness

This pressing and mastering are stellar. Blows abroad my United states original and MOV reissue. The muddiness is nearly gone on this one.
Lovely re-create. Nice with the translucent ruby-red which seems to become with the foreboding, underlying anger Sly had at this indicate in his career. There is less of the pop-centricity here than in earlier S&TFS releases, going more than toward bass-riddled funk and social justice outcries. Perhaps Sly's last not bad efforts, and this pressing gives it good due delivering an enjoyable sound stage with depth & separation. Uses the total spectrum of my kit - Rega RP3, Dynavector 10x5 w/P75 phono stage, Parasound HINT6, ATC SCM11 speakers. Funk on.
